Memory

When I thought of the theme hindsight 2020 I tried to think about where I spent most of my time. Since we weren’t allowed to leave our houses due to the long quarantine, all of my key memories for that year happened when I was in my room. I chose to focus on my bed and desk because those were the two places that I spent the most time when I was at school, talking to my current friends, meeting new ones and having time by myself to reflect with my own thoughts. The memories that this piece of furniture holds over the course of that year is endless. When I sketched the bed and desk onto the canvas I decided to depict them in a fisheye perspective to show that that area was my little bubble when the pandemic first started. However, when I started painting the pair in their original colours, I found that they were too dull and didn’t represent my true feelings, that’s why I decided to use vibrant and flowing colours to represent all of the joy and memories that they hold for me.
